Prepress preparation

Installing YUPO

Be sure to bring your unopened packages of YUPO into the same atmosphere as the printing room 24 hours before printing. In cold months, it is recommended to do this 48 hours before printing. (This allows the temperature of the YUPO to rise to the printing room temperature.)

The purpose of this is to prevent condensation (a sweating phenomenon on the surface of YUPO sheets) that occurs when cold YUPO sheets are suddenly moved into a warm printing room. When YUPO has condensation it can cause problems such as feeder malfunctions and ink transfer defects.

Opening YUPO Packages

The YUPO sheets next to the two chipboards on the top and bottom of each package are often affected by curling, so please remove these. In each package of YUPO there are two sheets more than the number of sheets indicated on the package label. Once opened, a YUPO package should always be stored flat.

If YUPO sheets are stored in a bent condition, the sheets will suffer from curling and will not become flat again. Be sure to store YUPO with the edges aligned and no unevenness.

Paper Stacking

Be sure to ventilate sheets adequately before printing then stack the sheets in the feeder. If sheets are stacked the day before, the air between the sheets may be squeezed out and this may result in feeding problems. (For FGS130, up to around 5,000 sheets can be stacked.)

Paper Folding

Never fold YUPO sheets during stacking.

Once folded, the fold in the paper cannot be removed, which can cause rear side problems.

Optimal Printing Room Conditions for YUPO

Optimal conditions may be set as follows:

Room temperature
20℃ to 25℃
Humidity
50 to 70%RH
  • If the humidity in the room is too low (40% or lower), problems may be caused by static electricity.
(For example, problems with paper delivery, sheet alignment, and adhesion of paper dust and other substances.)
