Printing

  • How to determine the printing surface. (indicated on the product packaging)
    (1) The side with the glossy finish.
    (2) The side that is difficult to write on with a pencil.
  • When using regular paper ink, ink can sometimes be removed by scratching. Be careful not to scratch the printed surface. If your application requires strong resistance to scratching (maps, bags, etc.), please follow the following procedures:
    a. Use a regular paper ink with resistance to heavy friction, such as ink for cartons. Alternatively, you may add an appropriate volume (approximately 5%) of polyethylene-type membrane strengthener.
    b. Use a rub-resistant overprint varnish.
    c. Use an ink designed for YUPO®.
    * The above measures increase in effectiveness in the order of c, b, a.
  • Use of an appropriate quantity of dampening water is essential. Use the same volume of dampening water as you would for standard YUPO®. Take special care to restrict the amount of dampening water in the generating cylinder.
  • Depending on seasonal factors, printing conditions or ink type (high-tack or quick-drying), poor ink transfer may occur. For example, to reduce ink tack, add varnish or other additives.
  • Cannot be used for flat-press laminates (such as coasters). Both the front and back are compatible for print laminates.

When printing, use proper care during pre-press set-up and proceed with printing while taking proper consideration of the requirements for each type of printing.
A better and more attractive finished product can be obtained by taking care to protect the printing surface.
