Lamination
*The optimum conditions vary depending on the companion materials that are to be laminated, so please investigate before proceeding.
YUPO®/YUPO® and Non-absorbent material/YUPO®

(1) Roll/roll laminates
  • Dry lamination is appropriate. We recommend two-component adhesives. To prevent curling, pay attention to the tension balance, and when using with sheets, trim before they are completely hard.
  • Sandwich lamination of LDPE, and so on, is possible, but thermal contraction may occur, so pay attention to the management of cooling rolls. When a strong lamination bond is required, apply a primer coat (AC coating) to YUPO® beforehand.
(2) Roll/sheet laminates (print laminates)
Warnings
For products that are for outdoor use, use a two-component adhesive rather than a pre-coating film (such as Lamitack).
*When laminating film (PP, PET and flexible PVC) on printed YUPO® sheets, we recommend a two-component adhesive. When laminating PP, we recommend that the hot melt adhesive is subjected to the film beforehand (e.g., Lamitack).
Preventing curling
  • Minimize the tension of the roll film as much as possible.
  • After laminating, turn the film side so it is facing upwards, roll the sheet, and cut it after rectifying the curl.
(3) Sheet/sheet laminates (hot-press lamination)
*When laminating rigid PVC sheets to printed YUPO® sheets, we recommend a two-component adhesive. Apply the adhesive to the PVC sheet.
The press temperature is generally between 100 and 120°C. If the temperature is unnecessarily high, problems may occur with size due to the contraction of YUPO®. To prevent curling and changes in dimensions after apply a hot press, continue applying pressure (cooling press) until YUPO® returns to room temperature.

YUPO®/absorbent material

(1) Plywood lamination
Although emulsions such as modified PVA and EVA can be used as adhesives, when a strong adhesion is required, we recommend a two-component hardening adhesive.
(2) Lamination with absorbent materials with low rigidity (paper)
We don't recommend this because there is a significant chance of curling occurring after lamination. However, in cases where it is possible to prevent curling, emulsions such as modified PVA and EVA can be used as adhesives. Dry lamination is also possible.
