When selecting inks, be sure to ascertain the required performance of the inks according to the application then consult your ink manufacturer.
Oil-based offset printing/YUPO inks (FGS, LAR [G], etc.)
- * Be sure to use inks designed for YUPO for silver ink.
- * There is no ink designed for YUPO specified for gold ink and therefore this poses the risk of solvent attack.
- * Metallic inks emulsify easily and therefore a minimum of dampening water should be used when printing with these.
- * Be sure to adjust the printing pressure by increasing it slightly. These inks have less transferability than process inks.
- * When gold ink comes into contact with other inks, oxidation can be caused by the gas produced in the drying process, which may result in blackening. Instead of gold ink, please use T&K TOKA's imitation gold ink. This is a mixture of YUPO-compatible silver ink, YUPO-compatible yellow, and YUPO-compatible reddish-gold.

- * When using gold or silver inks, be sure to refer to the section concerning inks designed for YUPO.

- * It is necessary that at least the inking rollers in the printing press have a cooling function and that the temperature can be controlled. This prevents problems such as unstable ink transfer and scumming.
- * Since dampening water is not used, problems involving static electricity may occur. Be sure that the humidity of the printing room is kept at 55% or more.
