Yupo Corporation's International calendar for 2007 wins award!

At the 58th Japan National Calendar Award (Co-sponsored by the Japan Federation of Printing Industries (JFPI) and Japan Printing News Co., Ltd.), held on 7 & 8 December 2006, a calendar designed for Yupo Corporation's international market was chosen as one of the prize winner. This annual award is targeted to the corporate calendars published by private companies in Japan, which are deemed have the "communication skill to relay the corporate cultural messages" and "print media to give elegance to the people's living space," and are judged based on each entry's printing technology, planning & design, functionality and usability. It is also sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Japan Paper Association (JPA), and has been continuously held since 1950. Yupo Corporation's entry, "BEAUTIFUL COLORS OF THE SEASONS" is a collection of works published by the artist, Mr. Seiichi Matsuyama, and are considered as one of the best collection which expresses the beautiful four seasons of Japan by using a felt-tip illustration markers pen which brings out brilliant colors in his creation. Artist Profile Mr. Seiichi Matsuyama 1948　Born in Kyoto Prefecture. 1971　Graduated from Japan Institute of Photography (now Japan Institute of Photography and Film). 1985　Switched from oil paint to illustration markers, finding a new mode of expression with which to pursue his work. 2000　Achieved widespread recognition after appearing on a Japanese TV program showcasing his illustration-marker compositions.
